Following the recent announcement from the Minister for Education, Kirsty Williams, there should be no end of year exams in 2021.
The decision was made to ensure fairness - the time learners will spend in school will vary hugely and, in this situation, it is impossible to guarantee a level playing field for exams to take place.
In lieu of exams, we will conduct teacher-managed assessments. These will be externally set and marked, but will be delivered within a classroom environment under teacher supervision.
The expectation is that these will form the basis for centre-based outcomes which will be linked to an agreed national approach to provide consistency across Wales.
Further updates will be given in due course.
